Yes if it's not very well done. Usually to freeze bread it have to be 80% done, than you defrost it and bake for the rest 20% and get fresh bread.
Little Notch bakery gives the appearance of a cute small French bakery. I cautiously ordered two pastries (no prices posted) and nearly fell over backwards when told the price, $15. Both were cold (Apple tart, Blueberry tart) which to me indicated they were not fresh but refrigerated. Needless to say for $15 I expected fresh. Once tasted, my worst fears were confirmed, the pastries were on par with a grocery store, nothing special. Oh well, live and learn.
I have mixed thoughts. The cheese pizza was pretty good, but that is all we tried. The bakery items looked really good, but there were flies in the glass case and on the baked goods. I found that to be unappetizing.
We loved having pizza for dinner at this place. The inside is very clean and it is a cozy place. The thin crust pizza was excellent and there was a large selection of drinks. Although we did not purchase any baked goods, there was a large selection and they looked very fresh and high quality. In all, I would recommend this café.
The staff were very nice, but the lemon cookie was dry and boring.
Delicious lunch....The kids had a couple of pasta dishes and both were quite pleased. Another had the Chicken Ceasar and liked it but wasn't a fan of the dressing. My wife and I split a Pizza and small ceasar and loved the dressing. It may have had too much anchovy blended in for her BUT my wife and I loved it. We had the Chicken/Ricotta/Cherry Pepper Pizza - it was delicious and the crust was excellent. We ate in the little courtyard up the block as there is no outdoor seating which was totally fine.
The homemade bread here is amazing! And they will slice the loaf for you! They also sell desserts and pizza! They have pizza by the slice ready all the time! Must stop by if you're in the area!
Great local little bakery. Bread and blueberry mountain jam are fantastic!
Wow!!! I was very impressed. I have had pizza from all over the country and this ranks up there with my top five. There are only 2 other places in Maine that come close Flatbread in Portland and Finelli's in Ellsworth.
Pizza was good. Pastry not as good. Friendly people.
We were just looking for some dinner, but ended up be shocked at how good the pizza was! They had friendly service as well. I regret that I didn't try one of their pastries.
Our hungry family of 4 came in about 10 minutes before closing. The staff was very friendly and invited us to stay as long as we wanted. Pizza was great, salad was fresh, and desserts were outstanding. Great to see small town business like this!
Fresh baked bread, cookies, brownies.....try the Olive Loaf or Honey Oatmeal bread.....they even slice the loaves for you! You can also get panini's and pizza! Always fresh, always good!
Definitely bring a raisin walnut loaf for home. If available get an olive French baguette. As an update coming back after three years. It's still a great place to eat pizza because they have some awesome dough as well as dessert. I highly recommend ordering the blueberry tart and eating their pizza and salad. Of course take a cookie or two for later. I highly recommend getting the cranberry oatmeal cookie.
Used to have excellent baked goods, but has taken a turn for the worse. Not only do fruit filling taste cheap and bland, but crusts are undercooked or even raw.
Really it's a 4.5 out of five stars. The prices were a tad steep but the pastries were definitely decadent and we'll worth it.
Stopped by at this wonderful little place on our way back to Bar Harbour from the lighthouse. It had a little bit of everything - salads, hot & cold sandwiches, and pizza. All made fresh! We had the chicken panini sandwich and pizza. Both were delicious and had great flavor! Service was fast. Nice change from all the lobster options. Best part - fresh made breads and other goodies!
The prices are ridiculous. 2 apple turnover: 11,00$. Taste very ordinary. Don't recommend it at all.
Great bread and pastries!
Friendly staff.. Pizza was old and dried out... Pastry was very good.
Delicious pastry.
Always greeted by friendly staff and the food NEVER disipoints. My go to spot every time I pass through south west Harbor.
Excellent coffee and cranberry oatmeal cookie - and the Romanian server was adorable as well!
Best bread in Maine! Terrific double dark chocolate cookies and cran-oatmeal cookies too. Highly recommend, although service for sandwiches and grille items can be slow.
We ordered brownies, cookies, and a fruit tart and they were so overpriced, small, and not tasty at all. Very disappointing.
I've somehow managed to miss stopping here in the past but was glad when I did. #8 pizza, blueberry pie, and the chocolate brownies were all enjoyed. Not sure about all their pizzas but mine was blonde. Was not a fan of the blueberry scone I had, was more like a roll and not much blueberry taste. Would definitely return to sample other items and get more pizza.
Delicious pastries and coffee from a cute local place. Great for breakfast, wish we would have tried their pizza!
Purchased a loaf of cinnamon-nut bread that was so dry it was inedible - threw it out. One staff member was eating in the food preparation area... NOT good.
Pizza was absolutely disgusting. Cold, old ingredients, and it was not fully cooked even though we waited for 35 minutes. Also overpriced. I never write reviews...Don't go here.
Very busy location (during lunch at least). Pizza is excellent, strongly considering taking some of the fresh baked bread with us.
16' cheese pizza was pretty fantastic and I've had my fair share of pizza all over the country. Crust definitely was lacking and could use a bit of tweaking but the tasty sauce and cheese made the majority of it a delight
Great little place for excellent blueberry pie, pizza and various pastries and sandwiches! Their bread is delicious as well!
Best pizza on the island.
They have a great selection of fresh baked homemade bread! Really friendly staff as well :) I wish they had prices posted on their pastry items ...
Prices are out of control. That's why they don't post the price. 2 chocolate croissant and 2 turnovers were $20!
Overall, everything we had was tasty but some of the pastries are just absurdly priced. We ordered three pastries at a total cost of just under $19 - including an apple tart that was over $9. Probably my fault for not asking before but it really caught me by surprise. No issues with quality - everything was very good, not life-changing though.
They had great baked goods and sandwiches!!
Delicious pizza! Took awhile to receive it, but worth it! The people receiving sandwiches made me wish I'd tried a sandwich too! The bathroom wasn't the cleanest. The homemade bread looked delicious. I bought a sesame loaf at $5.99 US funds, aka sticker shock! Hope it's as tasty as it looks so that I can forget the price. They don't post prices on their baked goods. Ask for the price ahead. They are taking advantage of tourists good will.
Nice friendly staff. French baguette 🥖 was great!
Literally the best blue berry pie in the world! Crust wasn’t super sweet like a gas station prepackaged pie, but more like an old fashioned buttery soft crust filled with undoubtedly homemade blueberry filling. Loved the pizzas and sandwiches too! Really everything is homemade and delicious.
The broccoli grilled cheese was delicious. It depends what you order here. Caprese sandwich was so so. Bread was wonderful. Sweet chili cookies had a nice taste but did not like the texture. Very hard. Staff was friendly.
Had the special blackened chicken on baguette with aioli sauce. It was so delicious!!
When I couldn't get my short old self up on the stool to enjoy their patio dining, they went to the trouble of bringing out a shorter stool. Very friendly, welcoming, and my zucchini, egg and cheese sandwich was SO delicious! Tourist prices, but well worth it for perfection.
Cute little place but disappointing baked goods. Blueberry pie tasted store bought. Bored teenagers behind the counter. Too bad, great little town with lots of tourists.Could and should do better.
The owners were super nice and pizza dough is made fresh daily. It was tasty and friendly.
Truly, the best cheese pizza I ever had! Staff was super helpful and accommodating (especially during this health crisis). My partner had the blueberry pie pastry (looks like an empanada) and said it was delish! We will certainly be back!
My favorite raisin breadIf you like raisin bread, be sure to try their raisin-walnut bread. It's not an airy, cinnamon-sweet pastry like bread, but rather a hearty raisin and walnut bread, chock-full of both.
Great food and a nice place. Just plan on eating out when it gets busy. Small dining area, but well worth the stop!
Staff was great, but that was about it. I have never had a greasier pizza in my life. It was hardly edible. I also grabbed some snacks from the bakery that were not too great either. This was the last dinner on our vacation and it was definitely the worst one. I wouldn't recommend pizza here - they do make bread which may be good, but I hadn't tried it.
